Houston is a city that is so full of life and breath; there is a constant ebb and flow of humans, bustling about. When I first moved to Texas, a year ago, I was fairly overwhelmed by the massiveness of the city and the number of activities that were always happening!
I felt as though I was always a step behind; I would hear about a great fair, concert, or festival after the fact. Recently, however, I stumbled upon a website called 365thingsinhouston.com This, my friends, is a magical website that keeps me updated on the weekly events in H-Town!
This weekend, the Kite Festival, which was held at Herman park, was featured on 365thingsinhouston, and let me tell you, my inner child rejoiced. We scurried out and bought a couple of kites and headed to the park. I couldn’t have asked for a better day, and the sheer number of people that were all enjoying the beautiful weather was fun to see.
It amazes me how an event, like the Kite Festival, can bring so many people of different walks of life together, laughing and playing in unison, not caring that a dive-bombing kite could attack them at any moment while on downward plunge.
I quickly realized that, while kite flying is a child’s activity, it is certainly not an easy task! Numerous times, I ended up wrapped in other people’s kites, with my feet tied together by kite tails, or clothes-lined by kite strings.
I could not think of a better way to spend a relaxing Sunday, than with my family flying kites at the park!
Make sure to check 365thingsinhouston.com for all of the latest events in Houston!
I have some nice pictures from this event on my blog.
